Continue airstrikes on Iraq and possibly Syria

Bring US troops in to train and possibly fight

Aiding Isis enemies (including Syria’s president)

Make a less visible profile in Syria

PROS

Bombing areas around Mosul Dam in Iraq, which supplies water and power to millions, successful in running out Isis terrorists. Syria is a haven for Isis terrorists, so bombing would eliminate them there too.

Experienced soldiers would help greatly, mostly with Iraqi soldiers in battle.

Aid Iraqi government and Kurdish forces with military support so they can fight Isis. And even though Syrian president and US aren’t on great terms, they both share the common enemy and could wipe out Isis together.

Continuing airstrikes could provoke Isis even more, so taking a role in the back could make Isis chill out and not be so violent.

Cons

Syria is already a damaged country because it’s going through it’s own civil war. We don’t want to do more harm than good. It would damage US’s image & we don’t want to kill more civilians than needed.

Its risky. There’s always a chance of soldiers getting killed, it’s expensive ($2.1 billion a year FOR EVERY FIGHTING SOLDIER) and it could put off the image of an invasion.

There’s no guarantees. Assad would have to be watched carefully because he is not trusted, same with Iraqi government.

Since elections are coming up, Obama needs to inform US citizens in what he is doing. Making it public could make this situation seem like America vs. Isis, when its not. Isis could retaliate more towards US.
